In 2006...

NEW!  Reader’s Center – An area for book lovers that contains resources to help you and your book club select just the right book to read.  Browse reader’s advisory books for all genres, literary magazines, reading lists, and information.

Henrietta Public Library photoNEW! Summer Camp and Activities Information Center to help you locate summer camps and activities for young people in the Rochester area and beyond. Use our books and promotional materials available in this resource center.

Our Audio Visual area has been enlarged, remodeled, and had neon signage added.
We would like to thank our many patrons for the support of our HPL Board of Trustees fundraisers.  Your donations to  the Board have purchased….

  • a new flat screen monitor called a BrightBoard that has been added in the library’s entrance area to showcase our upcoming programs, events, and fundraisers, as well as
  • an Interpretype, a device used to  facilitate communication with patrons having hearing difficulties that has been added at the reference desk

You were also most generous with your donations of food and sundries to the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) during the holiday season.

HPL held 302 programs with an attendance of 7,373.  The Community Room was used by various local non-profit groups for 191 programs with an attendance of  3,395 people.

Reference librarians answered 21,909 reference questions on site and by phone.

We added a total of 10,849 items to the circulating collection last year.  Of this number 10,114 were books and 735 were audio-visual materials.

We have over 20 volunteers who run the BookShoppe, mend books, clip articles for our business file, read for the storyline, teach adult courses here at HPL, create booklists, and help with brochures and office work.

Over 237,000 people have visited the library this year and 352,158 items were borrowed.

For You….

We have nearly 100,000 materials cataloged and ready for your recreational and educational needs in reading, listening and viewing.  Our staff of skilled, professional librarians is available for informational instruction and reference questions during all our open hours, in person and by telephone.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated group of Friends of Henrietta Public Library who volunteer in the BookShoppe and provide funding for our innovative summer programs. New members are always welcome.
