Hot Books

Books are hot in so many ways! New this month is our Hot Books service. We hope The Whole Truthto shorten the wait for some popular books by creating a one week loan collection of best sellers. Books must be returned to Henrietta (to eliminate the transit time between libraries) and there is a stiff overdue fine of $1.00 per day.  Since this is a new service we are limiting borrowing to one book per person. As the collection grows we may be able to increase the limit.  The collection is shelved in the Reader’s Center. NO holds may be placed on these books; they are first come, first served.

Some of the titles that will be there are:

David Baldacci’s The Whole Truth, which pits a journalist against a multi-national corporation involved in global conflicts.

Ever-popular Nora Roberts contributes The Hollow. For seven days in the seventh month every seventh year, six residents of Hawkins Hollow face the chaos of madness.

Certain GirlsCertain Girls  by Jennifer Weiner catches up with Cannie Shapiro while she tries to explain her X rated early novel to her thirteen-year-old daughter.

John Sandford’s Phantom Prey is his eighteenth Prey novel.  This one involves a missing college girl who ran with a Goth crowd.

Clive Cussler’s specialty is the ocean based adventure and Plague Ship is found adrift in the Persian Gulf. Dead bodies litter the deck and before the men of the covert spy ship Oregon can find a cause, explosions sink the ship.

Change of HeartIt’s hard to find any of Jodi Picoult’s books on the shelf, especially her newest, Change of Heart.  When a condemned prisoner offers to donate his heart, it goes to a surprising recipient.

In Empire of Lies, by Andrew Klavan, Jason Harrow is confronted by his hidden past. His well kept secrets involve him in a hunt for a missing girl and a terrorist plot.

The Last OracleThe scientific think tank the Jasons, attempt to bioengineer the world’s next great prophet. Will The Last Oracle by James Rollins usher in a golden age or the extinction of humankind?

Of course, James Patterson makes the list with Sail.  A family cruise turns out to be the vacation from hell. The trip was supposed to be a bonding experience, and it is, as the Dunne family must cooperate to survive.

Everyone’s favorite skip tracer is back in Fearless Fourteen. Janet Evanovich has Stephanie involved with a huge bank heist perpetrated by the cousin of Joe Morelli.
