Movies made from children’s books

Movies based on children's books are a wonderful way to spend part of a chilly fall day. You might be surpriPolar Expresssed at how many of your favorite movies were books first!

This month the movie version of The Polar Express will be opening. It's based on the Caldecott Medal winner by Chris Van Allsburg, about a magical train journey to the North Pole. Tom Hanks stars in it.

Fans of Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events will be happy to know that the movie will be in theaters in December. The popular series about the three Baudelaire orphans is filled with plot twists and terrific vocabulary! Count Olaf The Bad Beginningwill be played by Jim Carrey.

Children's Book Week this year is November 15 - 21. Stop in and enter our contest for kids ages 3-12 : match the clues in the display case with the titles of books. All entries must be in by Sunday, November 21 at 5 pm. The winner will be drawn from all of the correct entries, and will receive a $20.00 gift card from Borders.
