New Magazines

Happy New Year!  I hope your holidays were filled with wonderful moments with family and friends!

Ancestry magazineWith the New Year, the Henrietta Public Library usually adds new titles to our magazine subscriptions; 2007 is no exception.  The following are the new periodical titles, which will be added to the “Magazine Section” of our library.

Many of our genealogy fans will enjoy Ancestry Magazine.  The same people who host the popular ancestry.com web site publish this bimonthly magazine.  Sleek and shiny with helps for researching your family roots with a national scope this magazine should appeal to many amateur genealogists.

Home Business Magazine: the home-based entrepreneur’s magazine is also a bimonthly periodical.  This title provides practical advice for the home business person with several articles in each issue offering help with business strategies and a regular “success story” feature.

Home EducationHome Education Magazine offers articles and advice of issues facing homeschoolers, resources, reviews, and strategies pertaining to homeschoolers. This bi-monthly publication is one of the oldest homeschooling journals and should be of interest to homeschooling parents as well as others interested in the homeschooling concept.

Many of our patrons who have taken up the old “new” craft of knitting will be pleased with Knitters Magazine which is a quarterly publication devoted primarily with knitting projects. Most of the projects are of sweaters but there are plenty of items pertaining to design issues, seasonal projects and home decorating projects.

Romantic TimesFinally, we are adding two “readers’ advisory” periodicals which will be located in our new “Reader’s Center” found adjacent to the library’s reference section.  The first title is Romantic Times, which covers the gamut of the romance genre. Subtitled, “for readers of romantic and contemporary fiction” this monthly title has extensive book reviews organized by subgenres of romantic fiction as well as some on fantasy and mystery. Features also include interviews with popular authors as well as news bits on popular authors.  Deadly Pleasures is a quarterly magazine, which will appeal to our crime and mystery fiction fans at the library.  It contains interesting articles and many reviews of popular mystery genres.

The Henrietta Public Library has something for everyone – especially in our magazine section. Though the current issue does not circulate simply lift up the shelf and the rest of the current year issues are found.  Magazine circulates for three weeks.  I hope you enjoy our new titles!
