New Compact Discs

As always the Henrietta Public Library strives to offer music of every variety for our patrons. Here are a few of the new acquisitions received recently by the library:

Live recordings of famous and classic rock bands can make an unforgettable concert come alive once again for fans; The Song Remains the Same by Led Zeppelin was recorded live on video in 1973 at Madison Square Garden. Remastered with the band at its height among screaming fans, including the original dream sequences this compact disc also includes never-before-released versions from the original film of: ”Misty Mountain Hop”, “Over the Hills and Far Away” and “The Ocean.

Martin Scorsese’s concert film of the Rolling Stones in Shine a Light adds another great soundtrack to our rock collection. Although Mick Jagger’s chords may not have the range of the 60s, the Stones still rock and roll!  With 22 tracks added from the original, this CD will surely give fans a lot of satisfaction.

Homecoming by Eddie Daniels and the Modern Jazz Quintet is recorded live at the Iridium Jazz Club and smoothly presents standards such as “Falling in Love with Love”, “Night and Day” and “Warm Valley”. Sometimes poignant (“But Not Alone”) to a 14 minute homage to the classic “Django”, this recording will thrill jazz enthusiasts.

Menopause: the Musical reminds us all that Rochester’s GEVA Theater is a gem in our city’s crown and that great musicals can be heard in places other than Toronto or New York. This original cast recording includes Pammie O’Bannon who starred as the Midwest farmwife in this summer’s production of the musical. All the musical’s melodies are classics in their original form but their new lyrics will make women of all ages and the men in their lives laugh hysterically.
