The Minerva Campbell Literary Contest is an annual prose and poetry competition for Junior High School and Senior High School students attending Rush-Henrietta Central Schools and students who reside in Henrietta and attend school elsewhere. The Henrietta Public Library Board of Trustees, which sponsors the contest in honor of its first president, appoints a committee of judges to select the winners within each division. The first place winner in each category will receive a $50 prize; the second place winner in each category will receive a $30 prize; the third place winner in each category will receive a $20 prize and the honorable mention winner in each category will receive a $15 prize. The first place winners’ names will be engraved on the Minerva Campbell plaque displayed in each school, or in the Henrietta Public Library in the case of a non-public school student. The contest is funded by the Henrietta Public Library Friends and Foundation.
The 2024 Minerva Campbell Literary Contest runs from Monday, February 5-Monday, March 4, 2024. Copies of the rules are available in the school libraries and in the Teen Corner of the Henrietta Public Library. All entries are due by 4pm on Monday, March 4.
