2007 Annual Report
In 2007...
Have you noticed our new lobby set-up? We have information on Henrietta, City and County events, and many health and wellness publications. Everything is organized, easy to browse, and all is free for the taking.
The Local History pages on our www.hpl.org website now include ancestory.com (an online genealogy resource), several oral history files, and Henrietta Heritage, the invaluable book on the history of the town by Eleanor Kalsbeck. A cash grant from Sen. James Alesi made possible the many other new features.
We would like to thank our many patrons, Friends of Henrietta Public Library, and members of the Henrietta Quilt Club for the support of our HPL Board of Trustees fundraisers and the Henrietta Public Library. Your donations have provided…
- New tables for the community room, a white board for Community Room users, and the very large project in the Children’s Room that we began last year and is ongoing into 2008.
- We also have added a Telesensory machine, donated by a patron who wishes to remain anonymous. This machine will greatly enlarge print for the visually impaired as well as change the color background for persons that suffer from the inability to read black on white.
You were most generous with your donations of food and sundries to the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal (RHAFT) during the 2007 holiday season.
HPL held 317 programs with an attendance of 6,978. The Community Room was used by various local non-profit groups for 206 programs with an attendance of 2,008 people.
Reference librarians answered 21,237 reference questions on site and by phone.
We added a total of 10,849 items to the circulating collection last year. Of this number 10,114 were books and 735 were audio-visual materials.
We have over 20 dedicated volunteers who expend much time and talent to HPL.
Over 239,000 people have visited the library this year and 353,634 items were borrowed.
For You….
We have 103,430 materials cataloged and ready for your recreational and educational needs in reading, listening and viewing. In 2007 the MCLS began providing OverDrive online. These digital audio book titles are downloadable to home computers and are able to be put on MP3 players, and in some cases, burnable to CDs.
Our Friends of HPL sponsor our innovative and fun summer programs. New members are always welcome.
